A Florida Statement of Claim is a legal document used by a plaintiff to initiate a civil lawsuit in Florida. It is sometimes referred to as a civil complaint or complaint for damages. The statement of claim must be filed in the appropriate court and must include certain information, such as the identity of the plaintiff and the defendant, the date and place of the alleged wrong, a description of the facts that give rise to the claim, and the type of relief sought. There are four types of Florida Statement of Claim: negligence, breach of contract, intentional tort, and strict liability. Negligence cases involve a person’s actions or omissions that cause injury or damage to another. Breach of contract cases involve a party failing to fulfill an agreement. Intentional tort cases involve a person’s intentional conduct that causes injury or damage to another. And strict liability cases involve a person or company being held liable for harm caused by their product or service, regardless of whether they were negligent or not.
