A Florida Statement of Claim is a legal document that is filed in the court in order to initiate a civil lawsuit in the state of Florida. It is a type of pleading that is used by a plaintiff to state their cause of action against the defendant. It is also known as a complaint or a petition. The Statement of Claim must include the name of the court, the names of the parties involved, the legal claims of the plaintiff, and the damages sought. The Statement of Claim must also be properly served upon the defendant. There are two types of Florida Statement of Claim: a Limited Civil Statement of Claim and an Unlimited Civil Statement of Claim. The Limited Civil Statement of Claim is used for civil cases involving damages of $15,000 or less. The Unlimited Civil Statement of Claim is used for civil cases involving damages of more than $15,000.
