Current as of Jan. As part of the military pay and benefits package, military service members earn 30 days of paid leave per year.

To request a temporary or extended military leave of absence, the employee should generally obtain a request for leave of absence form from HR. Written notice is preferred, but not required under the law or this policy.

Unused military leave may be carried over into a succeeding FY year providing for a maximum balance of up to 240 hours (or 30 days) during a FY. If the carried over military leave is unused by the end of the current FY, it is forfeited and may not be restored for use.

Employees cannot be required to take their annual leave or long service leave for absences on Defence service, but may voluntarily elect to do so by mutual agreement with their employer.

The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) guarantees the rights of military service members to take a leave of absence from their civilian jobs for active military service and to return to their jobs with accrued seniority and other employment protections.

Leave is a Commander's program. The Command cannot stop you from formally requesting leave. If you request leave and it is denied, ensure you keep the leave request form showing it was denied for your records.

If you joined the Navy or Air Force, you're not usually allowed to take leave until you finish your military job training. The one exception to this rule is that you're usually allowed to take a week or so of leave if you're attending job training during Christmas week.

As part of the military pay and benefits package, military service members earn 30 days of paid leave per year. You start at zero and for every month of military service, 2.5 days of leave get added to your leave account.

Military and NOAA members earn 2.5 days of leave for each month of service. Up to 60 days of leave can be banked (accrued) over a two year period, but your leave balance is checked on the first day of the fiscal year (October 1) and any excess leave above 60 days is forfeit.

Annual Leave: Active duty Soldiers earn 2.5 days of annual (chargeable) leave for each month of service, for a total of 30 days per year. Currently, Soldiers can bank up to 60 days of leave at the end of the fiscal year.
