The Hawaii Notice of Appeal to LIRA, commonly referred to as the Notice of Appeal, is a document filed by an appellant in the state of Hawaii when appealing a LIRA decision. The Notice of Appeal to LIRA is the first step in the appeals process and must be filed with the Hawaii Labor and Industrial Relations Appeals Board (LIRA) within 30 days of the LIRA decision being delivered. The Notice of Appeal to LIRA must include a statement of the facts of the case, an explanation of the appellant's position and a request for a hearing before the LIRA. The Notice of Appeal to LIRA must be filed in one of three formats, depending on the type of appeal: 1) a Notice of Appeal to LIRA from an employer, 2) a Notice of Appeal to LIRA from a claimant, or 3) a Notice of Appeal to LIRA from a third party. The Notice of Appeal to LIRA must be signed by the appellant and accompanied by a filing fee. The Notice of Appeal to LIRA must also include a copy of the LIRA decision being appealed, any relevant documents, and a summary of the facts in the case.
