Iowa Articles of Correction [488.207] are legal documents used to correct mistakes or errors in a prior legal document, such as a deed, mortgage, or other instrument. The Articles are filed with the county recorder's office in the county where the original document was recorded. There are three types of Iowa Articles of Correction: 1) correcting a clerical error; 2) correcting a wrong description; and 3) correcting an omission. In the case of correcting a clerical error, the article must provide the correct information and a description of the mistake and how it is being corrected. In the case of correcting a wrong description, the article must provide a description of the correct property and a description of the mistake and how it is being corrected. In the case of correcting an omission, the article must provide the omitted information and a description of the mistake and how it is being corrected.
