Iowa Articles of Correction [490.124] are legal documents issued by the Iowa Supreme Court that provide a means for individuals to correct errors in their criminal records. These documents can be used to correct errors in the record due to clerical mistakes, incorrect information, or incomplete information. There are three types of Iowa Articles of Correction: (1) Correction of an Error or Omission; (2) Correction of an Entry on the Judgment and Sentence; and (3) Restoration of Rights. The Correction of an Error or Omission includes the correction of a misstatement of fact or the inclusion of a statement of fact that was omitted. The Correction of an Entry on the Judgment and Sentence includes the correction of any errors made in the entry of the judgment and sentence or any errors made in the entry of the order of commitment. The Restoration of Rights includes the restoration of any rights that the individual has lost due to their conviction.
