The Iowa Affidavit For Temporary Custody And Visitation is a document used by the Iowa courts to temporarily award a parent, guardian, or other individual with temporary custody or visitation rights of a minor child. This is usually filed when a parent is unable to care for the child due to death, illness, incarceration, or other circumstances. There are three types of Iowa Affidavit For Temporary Custody And Visitation: Grandparent Affidavit, Adult Relative Affidavit, and Other Adult Affidavit. The Grandparent Affidavit is used by a grandparent to gain temporary custody and/or visitation rights of the minor child, and the Adult Relative Affidavit is used by an adult relative (such as an aunt or uncle) to gain temporary custody and/or visitation rights of the minor child. Lastly, the Other Adult Affidavit is used by any adult who is not related to the minor child, but is deemed suitable to have temporary custody and/or visitation rights of the minor child.
