Idaho Letters of Temporary Guardianship are legal documents that are used to grant temporary guardianship rights to a person who is not the child’s parent or legal guardian. This type of guardianship is typically granted in cases of emergency or when the parent or legal guardian is unable to care for the child. It can also be used in cases of adoption, when a family is in transition or in cases where a family member or friend needs to care for the child. There are two types of Idaho Letters of Temporary Guardianship: an Idaho Temporary Guardianship of a Minor and an Idaho Temporary Guardianship of an Adult. The Idaho Temporary Guardianship of a Minor is used for children under the age of 18, while the Idaho Temporary Guardianship of an Adult is used for adults 18 and over. In both cases, the temporary guardian must have the legal authority to make decisions on behalf of the minor or adult and must be willing to take on the responsibility of caring for the child or adult until the parent or legal guardian can once again assume responsibility.
