An Illinois Citation Notice is an official document issued by the state of Illinois to the registered owner and/or driver of a motor vehicle. It is a notification of a traffic violation or other motor vehicle-related offense, including speeding, parking, vehicle registration, or other moving violations. It includes the date and time of the violation, the location, the fine or penalty (if any), and any additional information the issuing agency deems relevant. There are two types of Illinois Citation Notices: a Notice of Violation and a Notice of Penalty Assessment. A Notice of Violation is sent to the registered owner or driver of the vehicle, and includes information about the violation and any associated fines or penalties. A Notice of Penalty Assessment is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle, and includes information about any fines or penalties that are due.
