An Illinois Case Management Order (IMO) is a court order issued by a judge in the state of Illinois that sets forth the procedural requirements for a case. CMOS are used to ensure that the parties involved in a case are aware of the steps they must take in order to reach a final resolution. CMOS can include deadlines for filing documents, procedures for discovery, and other rules that apply to the case. There are three types of CMOS: Initial (or “NoticeCMOSCMOs, Amended ICMOs, and FinaCMOSOs. Initial CMOS are issued when a case is first filed and provide parties with a summary of the case, the deadlines that must be met, and other preliminary instructions. Amended CMOS modify an existing IMO and are issued when a party requests a change in the case or when new information surfaces. Final CMOS are issued when the case has been resolved and provide instructions on how the parties must proceed with the resolution.
