Illinois Summons (Certain Date) is a legal document issued by a court in the state of Illinois that orders a person to appear at a certain time and place to answer a complaint filed against them. It is usually issued by a clerk of court or a judge and served to the defendant, or the person being sued, either in person or by mail. There are two types of Illinois Summons (Certain Date): the Summons with Notice and the Summons Without Notice. The Summons with Notice includes information about the court and the plaintiff’s claims, as well as a warning that the defendant must appear and answer the complaint or the court may grant the plaintiff’s requests without further notice. The Summons Without Notice does not contain any information about the court or the plaintiff’s claims, and the defendant is not warned that failure to appear may result in a default judgment.
