An Illinois Case Management Order (IMO) is a court order issued by a judge in the state of Illinois that sets forth the procedures and responsibilities of the parties involved in a case. CMOS are used to manage cases and ensure that all parties are given fair and timely access to the court system. They are typically issued at the beginning of a case and cover all aspects of the case, from scheduling hearings and filing deadlines to outlining discovery and settlement procedures. There are two primary types of Illinois Case Management Orders: pretrial and post-trial. A pretrial IMO is issued before the start of a trial and outlines the procedures for both parties to follow prior to trial. A post-trial IMO is issued after the trial has concluded and outlines the procedures for the parties to follow as they move forward with the case. These CMOS may also contain specific provisions for the court to enforce, such as payment of attorney or court fees, distribution of court-ordered settlement funds, and other matters related to the case.
