An Illinois FINDINGS/Stalking NO Contact ORDER is a court order issued in the state of Illinois to protect individuals from stalking or harassment. It is similar to an Order of Protection or Restraining Order, but it is specifically designed to protect victims of stalking behavior. The order can be issued for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to, continuous harassment, incessant phone calls, repeated following or surveillance, and sending unwanted gifts or materials. The order will typically forbid the respondent from having any contact with the victim, their family members, or their places of employment. Additionally, the order may impose other restrictions, such as requiring the respondent to stay away from the victim’s residence or place of work. There are two different types of Illinois FINDINGS/Stalking NO Contact ORDERS: ex parte orders and plenary orders. An ex parte order is a temporary order that can be issued without the respondent’s presence. A plenary order is a more permanent order that requires a court hearing with the respondent present.
