Illinois Alternate Juror Request is a legal process that allows parties involved in a trial to request the presence of an alternate juror. This alternate juror may be brought in if one of the chosen jurors is unable to continue to serve, due to illness, death, travel, or any other circumstance. This gives the parties involved in the trial the assurance that a new juror will be available to take the place of the one who can no longer serve. There are two types of Illinois Alternate Juror Request: first-party requests and third-party requests. First-party requests are made by the parties involved in the trial, while third-party requests are made by the court. Both types of requests require the parties to provide detailed information about why the alternate juror is needed. Once a request is approved, the alternate juror will be brought in to replace the absent juror.
