E-Filling
Illinois E-Filing is an electronic filing system for the Illinois courts. It allows attorneys, pro SE litigants, and legal representatives to file documents and view case information online. It was implemented in the state of Illinois in 2010 to streamline the filing process, reduce paper waste, and increase the efficiency of the court system. Illinois E-Filing is a secure system that allows users to upload documents in multiple formats, including PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, and RTF. Illinois E-Filing is available for all types of civil cases in the Circuit Courts of Illinois. It is used for filing documents such as motions, orders, judgments, notices, and pleadings. It also allows attorneys to view and download documents electronically. There are two types of Illinois E-Filing: free filing and paid filing. Free filing is available for pro SE litigants and is limited to the filing of certain documents, such as motions and orders. Paid filing is only available to attorneys and includes all documents and features available with free filing, as well as additional features such as electronic service of documents and electronic payment of filing fees.
