An Illinois Demolition Affidavit is an official document that is filled out and signed by a qualified demolition contractor prior to a demolition project in the state of Illinois. This affidavit attests to the contractor’s qualifications to perform the demolition and certifies that the contractor has met the requirements of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The affidavit must be submitted to the local building department prior to the start of the demolition project. There are two types of Illinois Demolition Affidavits: the Residential Demolition Affidavit and the Non-Residential Demolition Affidavit. The Residential Demolition Affidavit is used for any demolition project that involves a residential structure. The Non-Residential Demolition Affidavit is used for any demolition project that involves a commercial, industrial, or institutional structure. Both types of affidavits require the contractor to certify that the project complies with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s rules and regulations.
