Indiana Appearance of Counsel is a legal procedure that allows an attorney to represent a client in a court in Indiana without actually being physically present. This type of representation is often used when an attorney is unable to appear in court due to a conflict of interest, or when an attorney is from out of state and cannot be present at the hearing. The attorney must file an Appearance of Counsel form with the court, which includes basic information about the attorney and the case. Once the form is filed, the attorney can represent the client in the court proceedings. There are three types of Indiana Appearance of Counsel: Pro HAC Vice, Limited Representation, and General Representation. Pro HAC Vice allows an attorney to represent a client in a specific case in Indiana, provided they meet certain requirements. Limited Representation allows an attorney to represent a client in a limited capacity, such as filing a motion or pleading in a case. General Representation allows an attorney to represent a client in all aspects of the case.
