The Indiana Application for Individuals to Pay the Filing Fee in Installments (AFPI) is a program designed to help individuals pay their filing fees in a more manageable manner. This program allows individuals to make smaller payments to pay off their filing fees over a period of time. AFPI is available for all filing fees associated with court proceedings, such as divorce, child custody, and adoption. The program offers two payment options: 1) A single payment plan in which the full amount of the filing fee is due at the time of filing, or 2) An installment plan in which the filing fee is split into several smaller payments over a period of time. The AFPI program is administered by the Indiana Supreme Court and is available to any person filing with the Indiana Supreme Court or any lower court within the state. Individuals must apply for the AFPI program prior to filing any documents with the court. The AFPI program is divided into two types: 1) IAIFPI-Spouse (for individuals filing for divorce or legal separation) 2) IAIFPI-Non-Spouse (for individuals filing for any other type of court proceeding). To apply for the AFPI program, individuals must complete the appropriate application form, provide proof of income, and submit a signed promissory note. The promissory note must indicate the amount of the filing fee, the number of installments, and the payment amount for each installment. Once the application is approved, the individual must make the first payment at the time of filing and make the subsequent payments according to the payment schedule.
