Indiana Registration of Foreign Protection Order is a process that allows individuals in Indiana to register foreign protection orders issued in other countries with the Indiana Supreme Court. It is designed to provide the same protection and enforcement to those orders as domestic protection orders. This process is available for any foreign protection order issued against an Indiana resident, regardless of where the order was issued. There are two types of Indiana Registration of Foreign Protection Order: Full Registration and Limited Registration. Full Registration requires that the foreign protection order be officially authenticated and filed with the Indiana Supreme Court. Once the order is registered, it is enforceable in the same manner as a domestic protection order issued in Indiana. Limited Registration allows an individual to register an unauthenticated foreign protection order with the Indiana Supreme Court. Once the order is registered, it is enforceable only against the respondent listed in the foreign protection order.
