Kentucky Complaint for Employment Discrimination is a complaint that is filed with the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights (CHR) when an individual believes that they have experienced discrimination in the workplace. This type of complaint is based on the Kentucky Civil Rights Act (KARA) and is applicable to employers with 15 or more employees. The complaint must be filed within 180 days of the alleged discrimination. The two main types of Kentucky Complaint for Employment Discrimination are: 1. Unlawful Discrimination Complaint — This type of complaint is filed when an individual believes that they have been discriminated against on the basis of their race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, or age as outlined in the KARA. 2. Retaliation Complaint — This type of complaint is filed when an individual believes that they have been retaliated against for filing a complaint of discrimination or for exercising their right to participate in an investigation of discrimination. The CHR will investigate the complaint and determine whether discrimination has occurred. If it is found that discrimination did occur, the CHR may order the employer to take corrective action or may award the individual damages.
