Kentucky Admission To Practice By Written Motion is a procedure that allows qualified attorneys to be admitted to the Kentucky Bar without taking the Kentucky Bar Exam. This procedure is available to attorneys who are already members of the bar of another state or the District of Columbia, are in good standing, and have an active license to practice law in the jurisdiction in which they are currently admitted. There are two types of Kentucky Admission To Practice By Written Motion: regular admission and limited admission. Regular admission allows attorneys to practice law in all courts within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, while limited admission grants attorneys the right to practice in only certain courts, such as the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, and the Circuit Court. In order to be eligible for either type of admission, applicants must submit an application, a character and fitness report, proof of professional liability insurance, and a fee.
