A Louisiana Notice of Appeal (Civil) is a document used to initiate an appeal filed with the state's court of appeals. It is used by the appealing party to inform the court of their intention to appeal and to provide the necessary information for the court to begin the process of the appeal. The Notice of Appeal must be filed with the court of appeals within 30 days of the date the judgment is rendered. There are two main types of Louisiana Notice of Appeal (Civil): “Interlocutory” and “Final.” An Interlocutory Notice of Appeal is used when the appealing party is appealing an interim ruling or order by the trial court. A Final Notice of Appeal is used when the appealing party is appealing a final judgment or order by the trial court. Both types of Notices of Appeal must include the name of the appealing party, the name and address of the court of appeals, the name of the trial court, the case number, the name and address of the trial court clerk, the date of the judgment or order being appealed, and the relief sought by the appealing party.
