The Louisiana Garnishment Procedure (Packet) is a legal process by which an entity (generally a creditor) can collect a debt from a debtor’s wages or other income sources. The packet includes all the forms, instructions, and information necessary to initiate and complete the garnishment process. The packet includes two types of Louisiana Garnishment Procedure (Packet): 1. Employee Garnishment Packet: This packet is used to garnish an employee’s wages for a debt owed to the creditor. The packet includes the forms needed to start the garnishment process, instructions on how to complete the forms, a sample order for the employer to complete, and a notice to the employee regarding the garnishment. 2. Bank Levy Packet: This packet is used to garnish money from a debtor’s bank account. The packet includes the forms necessary to start the garnishment process, instructions on how to complete the forms, a sample order for the bank to complete, and a notice to the debtor regarding the garnishment. In both cases, the packet also includes a copy of the garnishment order, which must be signed by a judge before the garnishment process can begin. Once the order is signed, the creditor must file the packet with the court and serve the debtor with the papers. The debtor must then respond to the garnishment by either paying the debt or filing an objection.
