It is the highest level of recognition offered by the court to attorneys in Louisiana and is intended to help consumers identify attorneys who have demonstrated a mastery of the skills and knowledge related to their specific areas of practice. The Louisiana Certification of Attorney program has three types of certification. They are: 1. Civil Law Certification — This certification recognizes attorneys who are knowledgeable and proficient in the areas of civil law, including torts, contracts, family law, and civil procedure. 2. Criminal Law Certification — This certification recognizes attorneys who are knowledgeable and proficient in the areas of criminal law, including criminal procedure, evidence, and trial practice. 3. Appellate Law Certification — This certification recognizes attorneys who are knowledgeable and proficient in the areas of appellate law, including appellate procedure, briefing, and oral argument.
