A Louisiana Release of Building Contract is a legal document that, when signed, releases a builder/contractor from any and all obligations they have agreed to in a building contract. It is typically used in a situation where a project has been cancelled or abandoned due to circumstances beyond the control of either party. The release must be signed by both parties to be legally binding. There are two main types of Louisiana Release of Building Contract: Unconditional Release and Conditional Release. An Unconditional Release terminates the contract and provides for no further obligations between the parties. A Conditional Release is used when the builder/contractor is still required to perform some obligations agreed upon in the contract. In any case, the Louisiana Release of Building Contract must be written in accordance with Louisiana state laws and must be signed by both parties in order to be legally binding.
