Louisiana Order of Protection is a legal document issued by a court to protect a person from abuse, violence, and/or threats of violence. It is also known as a restraining order, protective order, or no contact order. The order can be issued in civil or criminal cases and can be issued against individuals, family members, or other persons. The order is enforceable by the court and may require the offender to refrain from contact with the protected person, to stay away from certain places, and/or to pay certain financial obligations. There are two types of Louisiana Order of Protection. The first type is a Temporary Order, which is issued when there is an immediate need for protection and can last for up to 30 days. The second type is a Permanent Order, which is issued after a hearing and can last for up to two years. Both types of orders can include provisions for child custody, visitation, and support.
