Louisiana Title IV. Appendix 27.0A. La. C.C. Art. 102 Divorce Checklists is a list of steps that need to be completed in order for a couple to obtain a divorce in the state of Louisiana. This checklist includes the filing of the original petition for divorce, the service of process, the filing of the answer, the filing of any supplemental pleadings, the completion of the financial disclosure forms, the filing of all other necessary documents, the obtaining of a judgment of divorce, the filing of a property settlement agreement, the filing of a final judgment of divorce, and any other steps that may be required. The checklist is divided into two categories: pre-divorce and post-divorce. The pre-divorce checklist includes steps that must be taken prior to the filing of the petition for divorce such as determining the grounds for divorce, filing the petition, and serving the petition on the other spouse. The post-divorce checklist includes steps that must be taken after the divorce is finalized including filing for a change of name, filing for spousal support and child support, and filing any necessary tax forms.
