Massachusetts Authorization For Electronic Devices And Photographic Equipment (MADE) is a document issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety that authorizes the possession and/or use of electronic devices and/or photographic equipment by private citizens and organizations for official law enforcement and crime prevention purposes. This document is required for individuals and entities to lawfully possess and/or use such equipment in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. There are three types of MADE: General Authorization, Special Authorization, and Limited Authorization. General Authorization is a blanket authorization that allows an individual or organization to possess and/or use electronic devices and/or photographic equipment for official law enforcement and crime prevention purposes. Special Authorization is a specific authorization that is issued for a specific purpose, such as a specific investigation or a specific type of surveillance.
