A Massachusetts Notice of Limited Appearance — Superior Court is a legal document used to notify the court that a particular attorney is only appearing for a specific purpose in a specific case. This document is typically filed by an attorney who is appearing on behalf of a client for a particular motion or specific hearing, as opposed to appearing for the entirety of the case. There are two types of Massachusetts Notice of Limited Appearance — Superior Court: general and limited. A general Notice of Limited Appearance is used when an attorney is appearing on behalf of a party for a single hearing or motion. A limited Notice of Limited Appearance is used when an attorney is appearing on behalf of a party for multiple hearings or motions. In both cases, the Notice of Limited Appearance must be filed with the court and served upon the other parties in the case before the attorney can appear in court.
