The Maryland Petition for Expungement of Juvenile Records is a court form used by individuals to apply for the removal of their juvenile criminal records. This process is used to give juvenile offenders the opportunity to have their criminal records erased, or sealed, from public view. This petition is available to those charged with crimes in Maryland who were under the age of 18 at the time of the offense. There are three types of Maryland Petition for Expungement of Juvenile Records: Petition for Expungement of Juvenile Delinquency Records, Petition for Expungement of Juvenile Non-Delinquency Records, and Petition for Expungement of Juvenile Adjudicatory Records. Each petition requires the petitioner to provide information about the juvenile offense, including the date of the offense, the jurisdiction in which it occurred, and any other relevant information. The petitioner must also provide a statement of rehabilitation, describing the steps taken to change their behavior since the offense. After submitting the petition, a hearing will be held and a judge will decide whether to expunge the juvenile record.
