The Maryland Petition for Termination of Guardianship of the Property is a legal document used to end the guardianship of a minor’s property in the state of Maryland. It is a formal request to the court to remove a legal guardian from their role in managing the financial and/or property affairs of a minor. There are two types of Maryland Petition for Termination of Guardianship of the Property: (1) Petition to Terminate Guardianship of the Property of a Minor; and (2) Petition to Terminate Guardianship of the Estate of a Minor. The Petition to Terminate Guardianship of the Property of a Minor is used when the minor is under the age of 18 and does not require an estate. The Petition to Terminate Guardianship of the Estate of a Minor is used when the minor is over 18 and does require an estate. To complete the petition, the petitioner must provide the court with the necessary information about the minor, the guardian, and the guardianship. The petitioner must also provide evidence that the guardianship is no longer needed. Upon approval, the court will issue an Order Terminating the Guardianship of the Property.
