The Maryland Request for Spoken Language Interpreter is a form developed by the Maryland Department of Disabilities to provide qualified language interpreters to individuals with limited English proficiency. This request form is used by the individual, their family, or their representative to request language interpreter services. There are two types of Maryland Request for Spoken Language Interpreter: the Maryland Request for Interpreter Services (MRIs) and the Maryland Request for Interpreter Services with Interpreter Contract (RISC). The MRIs are a request form used to request services from a qualified language interpreter, while the RISC is used to request services from a qualified language interpreter with a contract. Both forms require the individual or their representative to provide details such as the language needed, the length of service needed, the type of interpreter requested, and the contact information of the interpreter. They must also provide proof of disability or limited English proficiency. Once the request is submitted, the Maryland Department of Disabilities will review the request and provide an interpreter who meets the individual's needs.
