Maryland Working Effectively with Interpreters in the Courtroom (WE WIC) is a comprehensive training program designed to help court personnel develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively communicate with court interpreters. The program focuses on providing guidance on how to effectively work with interpreters during courtroom proceedings. It includes topics such as court interpreter roles and responsibilities, interpreter ethics, interpreting standards, interpreter selection, courtroom protocols, and strategies for working with interpreters. WE WIC also provides information on best practices for working with interpreters and resources for further learning. There are two types of WE WIC trainings: basic and advanced. The basic training is designed for court personnel who are new to working with interpreters, while the advanced training is designed for court personnel who are more experienced in working with interpreters.
