Maryland Complaint For Employment Discrimination is a legal document that is filed with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights when an employee believes they have been discriminated against in the workplace based on their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, physical or mental disability, military status, or genetic information. There are two types of Maryland Complaint for Employment Discrimination: (1) a charge of discrimination and (2) a request for reasonable accommodation. A charge of discrimination is a legal complaint filed by a person alleging that an employer has engaged in discrimination based on a protected characteristic. A request for reasonable accommodation is a request by a person with a protected characteristic for an employer to make a change to the workplace or job duties to accommodate the person’s protected characteristic. Both types of complaint must be filed with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights in order to be heard.
