Maryland Stipulation For Advancement (MSA) is a state-mandated academic advancement program that provides additional academic support to students who have not met the state's minimum grade and/or test score requirements. The program is designed to help students develop the necessary skills to succeed in high school and postsecondary institutions. MSA has three types of programs: Summer Bridge, Credit Accumulation, and Remediation. The Summer Bridge program is designed for rising ninth graders who did not meet the state's minimum grade and/or test score requirements and need to improve their academic performance before the start of the school year. The Credit Accumulation program is for students who need extra assistance in completing the necessary credits to graduate. Finally, the Remediation program is designed for students who need additional support to meet the state's minimum grade and/or test score requirements. All MSA programs require students to meet certain criteria, such as being enrolled in a Maryland public school, having an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan, and being recommended for the program by a school administrator. MSA programs are offered in both traditional and online formats and are available to all students who meet the eligibility requirements.
