Maryland General Assembly Anti-Harassment Policy and Procedures
The Maryland General Assembly Anti-Harassment Policy and Procedures outlines the expectations and procedures for preventing, reporting, and responding to instances of harassment. The policy applies to all participants of the General Assembly, including members, staff, interns, lobbyists, and visitors. The policy prohibits all forms of harassment, including but not limited to: discriminatory harassment based on a person’s sex, gender, race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, age, or disability; sexual harassment; unwelcome comments, jokes, and other behaviors; and physical contact that is unwelcome or uninvited. The policy also prohibits retaliation against individuals who report harassment. The Maryland General Assembly Anti-Harassment Policy and Procedures include three distinct types of policies and procedures: 1. Prevention Policies: These policies outline the expectations for participants and provide guidance on how to prevent and report harassment. 2. Reporting Procedures: These procedures outline how to report cases of harassment, how reports will be addressed, and how confidentiality will be maintained. 3. Responding Procedures: These procedures outline how the General Assembly will respond to reports of harassment, including investigation and disciplinary action.
