Sec. 1546(a) is a Maine statute that prohibits making a false statement or representation in a document required by the United States immigration laws or regulations. This includes any false statement or representation made in, on, or in connection with any application, petition, affidavit, or other document or paper required by the immigration laws or regulations. There are two types of false statements or representations prohibited by this law: (1) knowingly and willfully making a false statement or representation and (2) recklessly making a false statement or representation.
