Maine Termination of Statement of Intention to do Business under an Assumed or Fictitious Name is a legal document that is used to terminate a Statement of Intention to do business under an assumed or fictitious name in the state of Maine. The document must be filed with the Maine Secretary of State by the individual or entity that initially filed the Statement of Intention. There are two types of Maine Termination of Statement of Intention documents: (1) The Standard Termination and (2) The Voluntary Termination. The Standard Termination is used to terminate a Statement of Intention that has not been renewed within the past five years. The Voluntary Termination is used to terminate a Statement of Intention that has been renewed within the past five years. Both types of Terminations require the filer to provide identifying information such as the name of the original filer, the state where the assumed or fictitious name was filed, the date the Statement of Intention was filed, and the date of termination. The filer must also provide a statement that all obligations associated with the assumed or fictitious name have been satisfied. Once the Termination is filed with the Maine State Secretary, the assumed or fictitious name is no longer valid.
