The Maine Statement of Change of Foreign Qualification is a document that is required by the Secretary of State's Corporations Division in the State of Maine when a foreign (out-of-state) corporation wishes to do business within the state of Maine. This document is required to update the corporate information of the entity and to provide a certificate of qualification that allows the foreign corporation to do business in Maine. There are two types of Maine Statement of Change of Foreign Qualification: Application for Authority to Transact Business in Maine and Application for Qualification of a Foreign Corporation. The Application for Authority to Transact Business in Maine is used when the foreign corporation is planning to begin business activities in the state of Maine, while the Application for Qualification of a Foreign Corporation is used when the foreign corporation is already doing business in the state and wishes to update its information. Both applications require the filing of various documents and the payment of a fee. Upon receipt of the application and supporting documents, the Secretary of State's Corporations Division will issue a certificate of qualification.
