A Maine Certificate of Correction is a document issued by the Secretary of State of Maine that can be used to correct errors on documents from the state of Maine. These documents may include errors in a business entity’s charter, an application for a professional license, or other documents filed with the state. Certificates of Correction can also be used to correct errors in deeds, mortgages, or other deeds of trust. There are two types of Maine Certificate of Correction: a standard Certificates of Correction and an Expedited Certificate of Correction. The standard Certificate of Correction is issued after the Secretary of State reviews a request and determines that a correction is necessary. The Expedited Certificate of Correction is issued within 24 hours of a request being submitted, and is typically used in cases of urgency.
