Maine Certification In Lieu of Case Management (CICM) is a program offered by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that allows qualified individuals to provide case management services without the completion of a formal case management certification or licensure. This program is designed to provide access to case management services for individuals who would otherwise not have access to such services. The program includes two types of Maine Certification In Lieu of Case Management — Certified Mental Health ProfessionalCHMPHP) and Certified Substance Use Disorder Professional (CSU). The CHMP certification allows individuals to provide mental health case management services, while the CSU certification allows individuals to provide substance abuse case management services. Both certifications require applicants to demonstrate a minimum level of knowledge and experience in the field of case management. In order to maintain certification, CHMP and CSU professionals must complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education each year.
