Michigan Injured Spouse Waiver Forms are documents used by taxpayers who are filing a joint tax return with a spouse who owes money to the IRS or Michigan Department of Treasury. This form allows the taxpayer to file a joint return without having their refund taken to pay their spouse’s taxes. There are three types of Michigan Injured Spouse Waiver Forms. The first type is the Michigan Injured Spouse Relief Request Form 4248. This form allows the taxpayer to request relief from the IRS for their portion of a joint tax refund that has been taken to pay their spouse’s taxes. The second type is the Michigan Injured Spouse Revised Refund or Credit Form 4249. This form allows the taxpayer to request a revised refund or credit from the Michigan Department of Treasury if their refund has been taken to pay their spouse’s taxes. The third type is the Michigan Injured Spouse Supplemental Refund Form 4250. This form allows the taxpayer to request a supplemental refund from the Michigan Department of Treasury if they are due a refund on their portion of a joint return.
