Michigan Gaines Township is a civil township located in Genesee County, Michigan. The township is situated near the city of Flint and is part of the Flint/Tri-Cities area. Michigan Gaines Township is a rural area that borders Grand Blanc, Swartz Creek, and Atlas Township. It encompasses the communities of Gaines, Lennon, and Gaines Center. The township has a total area of 36.3 square miles, with much of it being agricultural land and open space. There are also several parks in the area, such as the Gaines Township Park and the Gaines Township Recreation Complex. The township is home to a variety of businesses, such as the Gaines Township Farmers Market, the Gaines Township Hall, and the Gaines Township Branch Library. Michigan Gaines Township is divided into two types of government: the Township Board of Trustees and the Township Planning Commission. The Township Board is responsible for overseeing the operations of the township, while the Planning Commission is responsible for overseeing the development of the community. The Township Board meets every first and third Tuesday of the month, while the Planning Commission meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
