A Michigan Notice of Hearing On Probation Violation is a document issued by the State of Michigan when a person on probation has violated the terms of their probation. The Notice is sent to the probationer and will include the date, time, and location of the probation violation hearing. The hearing will be presided over by a judge or magistrate and the probationer will be given an opportunity to defend themselves against the charges of violation. Depending on the severity of the violation, the judge or magistrate may decide to modify or revoke the probationer’s probation. There are two types of Michigan Notice of Hearing On Probation Violation: 1) Revocation Hearing Notice and 2) Modification Hearing Notice. A Revocation Hearing Notice is issued when the probationer has been accused of a severe violation of their probation terms and the judge or magistrate is considering revoking the probation. A Modification Hearing Notice is issued when the probationer has been accused of a minor violation of their probation terms and the judge or magistrate is considering modifying the probation instead of revoking it.
