The Michigan Order to Remit Prisoner Funds for Fines, Costs, and Assessments is a document used by the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDC) to collect financial obligations in the form of fines, costs, and assessments from prisoners. It is issued in accordance with Michigan Compiled Laws (MCL) 791.234 and serves as an order to collect payments for the prisoner’s financial obligations. There are three types of Michigan Order to Remit Prisoner Funds for Fines, Costs, and Assessments: Order to Remit Funds on Release from Prison, Order to Remit Funds from Prisoner’s Account, and Order to Remit Funds from Third Party. The Order to Remit Funds on Release from Prison is issued when the prisoner is released from prison and must pay his/her financial obligations in full. The Order to Remit Funds from Prisoner’s Account is issued when the prisoner is still in prison and the funds will be taken from the prisoner’s account. The Order to Remit Funds from Third Party is issued when the prisoner is unable to pay the amount due and a third party is responsible for payment.
