Michigan Request to Review Accommodation (MARA) is a process that allows individuals with disabilities to have an assessment and determination of their need for accommodations in order to be successful in their educational, employment, or other life activities. The process is designed to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to programs, services, and activities. There are three types of MARA: 1. Initial Request for Review — This is the first step in the process and is the request for an assessment of an individual’s need for accommodations. 2. Reasonable Accommodation Request — This is a requesspecificiaccommodation none that is requested by the individual. 3. Appeal of Denial — This is a request for review of an initial or reasonable accommodation request that has been denied. The process begins with the individual submitting a written request to the appropriate agency or organization for review. The request should include a detailed description of the disability, the desired accommodation, and any supporting documentation. The agency or organization will then review the request and provide a response. If the request is approved, the agency or organization will provide the requested accommodation. If the request is denied, the individual may appeal the decision.
