Minnesota Application for Informal Probate of Will and for Informal Appointment of Personal Representative is an application used to establish the validity of a will and the authority of an executor or personal representative to administer the estate. This document is used to initiate the informal probate process, which does not require court supervision. It is used to establish the decedent's right to transfer their property to their chosen beneficiaries, and to appoint an individual to act as the personal representative of the estate. There are two types of Minnesota Application for Informal Probate of Will and for Informal Appointment of Personal Representative: an Application for Informal Probate of Will and Appointment of Personal Representative, and an Application for Informal Appointment of Personal Representative. The Application for Informal Probate of Will and Appointment of Personal Representative is used when the deceased person left a valid will, and the Application for Informal Appointment of Personal Representative is used when the deceased person did not leave a valid will. Both applications must be filed with the court in the county where the decedent resided at the time of their death.
