Minnesota Satisfaction of Judgment is a legal process that takes place when a judgment creditor has been paid in full by a judgment debtor. This document allows the court to recognize the payment and dissolve the judgment against the debtor. It is a binding document that states the amount of money paid, the date of payment, and the creditor's signature. It must be filed with the court in order to be valid. There are two types of Minnesota Satisfaction of Judgment: 1) Voluntary Satisfaction of Judgment and 2) Involuntary Satisfaction of Judgment. Voluntary Satisfaction of Judgment occurs when the judgment creditor and debtor agree to a payment plan and the judgment creditor files the Satisfaction of Judgment with the court. Involuntary Satisfaction of Judgment occurs when the judgment creditor is paid in full by the judgment debtor without an agreement or court order. In this case, the judgment debtor must file the Satisfaction of Judgment with the court in order for it to be valid.
