Minnesota Notice of Motion and Motion To Stop Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) are legal documents used in Minnesota courts to request a change in the amount of support paid by a noncustodial parent to a custodial parent. The noncustodial parent will usually file a Notice of Motion and Motion to Stop Cost of Living Adjustment when they believe that the current support payments are too high due to changes in the cost of living. The custodial parent may also file a Notice of Motion and Motion to Stop Cost of Living Adjustment when they feel that the current support payments are insufficient. There are two types of Minnesota Notice of Motion and Motion To Stop Cost of Living Adjustment. The first type is a Notice of Motion and Motion to Stop Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Child Support. This type of motion is used to request a change in the amount of child support paid by a noncustodial parent to a custodial parent. This type of motion is used to request a change in the amount of spousal maintenance paid by a noncustodial parent to a custodial spouse.
