The Minnesota Affidavit of Service is a document used to prove that an individual has properly served legal documents to another party. It generally contains the date, time, and location of service, as well as the name of the person served. This affidavit is typically signed by the individual who served the documents, and then notarized as a true and accurate record of the service. There are two types of Minnesota Affidavit of Service: Personal Service and Substitute Service. Personal Service requires the legal documents to be served in person to the recipient. Substitute Service is a form of service that occurs when the recipient cannot be located or does not accept the documents, and so they are served to another adult in the same household or upon an adult in charge of the business.
